Knowledge & education

Utrecht University (UU) is the largest university in the Netherlands. Of all Dutch universities UU has produced the most Nobel Prize winners and has a higher ranking in the Shanghai index than all other Dutch universities. In addition, Utrecht is home to the University Medical Center Utrecht and a range of higher and intermediate education institutes. Utrecht also has the University College and the International Campus Utrecht, where courses are taught in English. With this broad range of possible studies and the highest level of education amongst its working population, Utrecht has a great deal to offer. Companies working in ICT, the life sciences, the health sector and business and financial services are therefore keen to base themselves in Utrecht. Take, for example, Dutch Game Garden, which develops games that are known the world over. Information institutes such as the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), Nutricia Research and Princess Maxima Center for Pediatric Oncology have in the last few years, for good reason, chosen to locate in Utrecht.
